Core Beliefs

the triune god

We believe in one true God, Who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three Persons make up the Trinity, or Godhead, and all Three are worthy of our worship, devotion and service.
(Matthew 28:19, John 10:30, John 14:9, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Philippians 2:6, Colossians 2:9)

the father

The Father is the first Person of the Godhead. He is eternal, unchanging, all-powerful, all-knowing, and is completely sovereign, just and holy. He sent His Son into the world to save us from an eternity apart from Himself. God has also become the Father to all who place their faith in the completed work of Jesus.
(Matthew 3:17, Matthew 6:9, John 1:12 & 14, John 3:16, John 17:3, Romans 8:14-16, Ephesians 4:6)

the son

Jesus, the second Person in the Godhead, is the Son of God. He is perfect in both His Deity and His humanity. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and died to atone for our sin. He is the Way, the Truth, the Life and is the only Way to the Father.
(Psalm 2:7, Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 3:17, Luke 1:34, John 1:14, John 3:16, John 14:6, Philippians 2:7-8, Colossians 2:9, 1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 5:8)

the holy spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third Person in the Godhead. He permanently indwells God's people and seals us unto the day of redemption. He is active in the lives of God's children, bringing conviction, guiding us into all truth and enabling us to be witnesses of the Lord Jesus. He bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God. We believe in the full manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and in the fruit of the Spirit, which grow in the lives of God's people as a result of our relationship with Him.
(Genesis 1:2, John 14:16-17, John 16:8, John 16:13, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:16, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Galatians 5:22-23)

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired, written Word of God. It was written by men who "were moved by the Holy Spirit", and it is inerrant in its original manuscripts. The Bible has been given to us for encouragement, guidance, comfort, reproof, correction and instruction for training in righteousness. We believe the Bible reveals Jesus and His desire to walk with us in a personal relationship.
(Luke 24:44-45, John 10:35, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Man

We believe all people were created in the image and likeness of God, being made either male or female. We were made to glorify, worship and serve Him, and to live with Him in a personal relationship. This relationship was damaged when mankind allowed sin into the world, but Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost, making the restoration of this relationship possible and available to all people.
(Genesis 1:26-27, Luke 10:19, John 17:3, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)

salvation

Salvation is a free gift of God. We receive it when we place our faith in Jesus and in His work, which was completed by His death, burial and resurrection. At the time of salvation, we receive eternal life, old things pass away and all things become new. Salvation is given and maintained by God's grace and mercy, and is not determined by our works or performance.
(Romans 6:23, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 2:11-14)

The Church

We believe the church is the entire body of Christ. Jesus is the Head, and His body is made up of His people from every tribe and tongue. We believe in the regular assembling of ourselves in fellowship with other believers. These local assemblies are places for community, worship, encouragement in our relationships with God and each other, and for being trained and equipped to live our lives as God's people and to perform the work of the ministry.
(Mark 11:17, Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 4:11, Colossians 1:18, Hebrews 10:25, Revelation 5:9)

Baptism

Baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We do not believe baptism is a requirement for salvation, nor is anyone saved because they have been baptized. Instead, it is a public declaration that you have been saved, and it is a Biblical command that demonstrates the believer's love and obedience to Jesus.
(Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12)

Communion

Communion is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus to remember His sacrifice for us and to symbolize the New Covenant. The elements of communion, the bread and the cup, represent His broken body and shed blood. We do not believe anyone is saved by taking communion, but it is a testament of a believer's faith in the atoning work of the Cross.
(Matthew 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-24, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

Marriage

We believe marriage was instituted and designed by God to be a relationship between one man and one woman. Marriage is a picture of the loving relationship Jesus desires to have with His church.
(Genesis 2:18-25, Proverbs 5:18, Proverbs 18:22, Proverbs 31:10, Ephesians 22-33, Hebrews 13:4, Revelation 19:7-8)
